Itinerary

DAY 1: SWAKOPMUND - WALVIS BAY - SOLITAIRE - SESRIEM (approximately 350 kilometres)

We collect you at your accommodation in Swakopmund and proceed to the charming town of Walvis Bay, located 40 kms outside of Swakopmund. Enjoy a short stop at the marine lagoon located south of the town which hosts gorgeous flocks of flamingos and a myriad of other marine birdlife.

We also take the opportunity to make any last-minute purchases before commencing with the second leg of our journey which takes us through the vast stretch of Namib gravel plains before the terrain suddenly transitions into scenic mountain desert.

Here we travel through the breath-taking Kuiseb and Gaub mountain passes, crossing low riverbeds before taking the steep road to the gorgeous mountaintop which offers sweeping views of the world below.

As we cross the mountains, we begin to descend into the singular dune fields which offer your first taste of the beauty yet to come. Passing through grass savannah interspersed with farmland, the terrain suddenly opens onto the great red undulating Namib Desert from which it is only a short distance to the quaint little town of Solitaire.

We make a brief refreshing stop in Solitaire (famous for its apple pie) and arrive at our camp at Sesriem in the late afternoon. Enjoy a heart-warming dinner at the campfire.

Overnight in a safari tent at Sesriem Campsite.

Includes: Lunch and dinner

DAY 2: SOSSUSVLEI & SESRIEM

We make a pre-dawn start as the sun begins to warm the desert. We pass through Sesriem and proceed to the middle of the dune field. Enjoy a 5-kilometre walk through the rich canvas of dunes.

Once a flourishing oasis, Dead Vlei has been transformed into a remarkable scape of 900-year old, charcoal-dark acacias which make startling silhouettes against the blushing dunes. Dead Vlei was formed when an old river that fed the oasis changed its course.

After lunch, we take a short trip in the cool of the afternoon to the Sesriem Canyon which consists of beautiful rock passages carved over time by the meandering Tsauchab River. Return to camp for another starlit dinner.

Overnight in a safari tent at Sesriem Campsite.

DAY 3: SESRIEM - SOLITAIRE - WINDHOEK (approximately 350 kilometres)

On our last morning we breakfast at camp and then depart for Windhoek, taking the scenic route over the mountains and along meandering roads to the town of Solitaire for a short, refreshing break, and travel across the Khomas Hochland Mountain range.

Expect to arrive in the city late afternoon or early evening. Your guide drops you off at your accommodation in Windhoek.
