A tour of Cape Town should inevitably involve a tour of the country’s iconic wine region. The Cape Winelands is made up of 18 official wine routes and two brandy tours; and takes visitors on a scenic route to wine estates and farming hubs that are steeped in history and culture. The famous Cape Winelands extends from Groot Constantia Wine Estate which dates back to 1865 and is South Africa’s oldest wine estate to the Cape Overberg in the south-western Cape, through the Little Karoo.

For a delicious taste of the Cape Winelands, join our half-day tour and discover one of its jewels; the historic town of Stellenbosch. This is South Africa’s oldest town (after Cape Town) and home to the country’s finest wine estates, rich agricultural enterprises and a world-class university. It lies nestled in a beautiful mountain valley with spectacular views of towering mountains and lush farmlands.

Stellenbosch

The tour takes you to the historic town of Stellenbosch which is the heart of the wine-making industry in the Cape. A drive through Stellenbosch starts in Dorp Street which is planted by gracious 18th-century Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian buildings. Massive oak trees have stood sentry for decades and add grandeur to the magnificent beauty of the town.

Enjoy a wine tasting excursion at one of Stellenbosch’s finest wine estates and an educational talk by the wine experts. A second wine tasting will be included if there is time; before returning to Cape Town.

‘Stellies’ as the locals call Stellenbosch is a university town. During the academic term, Stellenbosch is a hive of activity by day and a party destination by night.
