About Pilanesberg

Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa’s fourth largest game park, is situated in a crater in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province. This crater is the product of a volcano that erupted many millions of years ago. This extinct volcano has evolved to become one of the most fascinating landscapes for you to visit. By the Genesis project the majority of South Africa’s wildlife is now found in the Pilanesberg game reserve.

The park covers an area of 55 000 hectares. More than 7000 animals live here in a free and unhindered environment. Pilanesberg is home to all of the BIG 5 (elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion) and we guarantee that you will be able to tick off most on your list of game sightings! Other animals that you may encounter are zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, jackal, wild cat, various antelope as well as over 300 bird species…the list is endless.

Pilanesberg offers over 200 km of roads for guided or self-drive game viewing. On our tour you enjoy an extensive game drive conducted by an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide who will answer all your questions about the fascinating wildlife and environment. Bring your camera to have a permanent record of all the wild animals and the spectacular landscape this National Park has to offer.

Moafrica (Anthony), is Very accommodating and flexible. Able to make things happen even-though it’s last minute request. Black Rhino lodge accommodation is fantastic and personal service literally over feeding the guest with delicious meals. Was fortunate to have all big 5 sightings and many more animals in two drives open top safari drives during my 3D/2N stays . Safari drives are led by a very experienced, energetic, dedicated and most importantly passionate young ranger (Die)n who seems to have indented all those animals for our viewing/photographic pleasure ! A live National Geographic moment indeed! Had a very meaningful and educational extended bush walk session with a 15 years veteran ranger (Johan) who is also formally part of the anti-poaching unit. Very willing to share tracking, animal feces / foot prints knowledge with us.. thanks for the fantastic holistic experience !!!
